Woodrow Karey, the man who has admitted to shooting Pastor Ronald James Harris twice with a shotgun, was indicted yesterday on a charge of manslaughter, instead of the initial charge of second-degree murder. The Grand Jury decided on the lesser charge that carries a sentence of up to 40 years.
Authorities say Karey walked into Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center on September 27, 2013, and shot Pastor Harris twice. Karey admitted to the shooting stating Pastor Harris had raped his wife several times. The investigation showed there was a relationship between the Pastor and Karey's wife, but did not say if it was consensual or not.
