A Lake Charles man has been arrested on a fourth offense DWI charge after driving his vehicle into a Vinton ditch, authorities said.
Louisiana State Police Troop D got a call about a vehicle in a ditch near La. 109 in Vinton early Tuesday morning, according to Sgt. James Anderson with Troop D.
The driver, Darrel Carter, 45, was impaired, Anderson said, and he refused to provide a toxicology sample. A trooper requested and obtained a "no refusal" warrant from a judge and was able to get the sample, Anderson said.
Carter, who has been arrested on numerous occasions for DWI, was arrested on DWI fourth-offense and careless operation of a motor vehicle and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
