BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

Bossier City authorities still are looking for a teenager suspected of shooting another teenager over the weekend.

They also say that it was not a random act and that such crimes involving juveniles are rare in their city.

"I can't think of anything off the top of my head in which two juveniles were involved in something like this," said spokesman Mark Natale, who has been with the city for 16 years. "I mean, I'd have to do some digging. But, I mean, like I said, it's not a common occurrence."

Security has been increased at Bossier High in response to the shooting that sent a 14-year-old to a hospital, according to Bossier School District.

The 16-year-old police are seeking in connection with the shooting was enrolled as a student at the Bossier City campus, School District spokeswoman Sonja Bailes said.

Police have a warrant to arrest Kiemond Phillips on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, city spokesman Mark Natale said.

Phillips was absent for about a week prior to the shooting, Bailes said.

Phillips, who stands 5'3" tall and weighs about 183 pounds, is suspected of shooting the 14-year-old in the chest about 1 p.m. Saturday while the victim was sitting in a Mercury Grand Marquis in the driveway at his home in the 1200 block of Schex Drive in Bossier City.

The victim’s school has added additional school counselors to help students cope with the aftermath of the shooting.

Authorities ask anyone with any information about the shooting to contact Bossier Crime Stoppers by calling (318) 424-4100 or submitting a tip on the organization's website, bossiercrimestoppers.org.
