A Lake Charles woman was sentenced on Thursday to a year and a day in prison for buying stolen equipment from Texas, the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Western District of Louisiana said in a statement.
Katherine P. LaRocca, 53, of Lake Charles, was sentenced on three counts of sale and receipt of a stolen vehicle.
In her Jan. 25 guilty plea, LaRocca said that two men stole a John Deere mower, a CASE Skidster front-end loader, and a Kubota KX 61 Mini-excavator in Texas between December 2010 and October 2011, said the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The men transported the equipment - valued between $95,000 and $150,000 - to LaRocca in Calcasieu Parish, and she bought them knowing they were stolen.
Along with a year in prison, the court also sentenced LaRocca to two years of supervised release and ordered her to pay a $20,000 fine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
