IOWA, LA (KPLC) -

An Iowa man has been arrested on charges that he whipped a 4-year-old boy with a belt for not falling asleep.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff''s Office arrested Lakeith D. Morrow, 31, on April 7. He's charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

According to Kim Myers, sheriff's office spokeswoman, deputies responded to a call on April 4 at a local hospital about a child abuse case. When deputies arrived, they observed marks and bruising on the 4-year-old boy's stomach, back, buttocks, legs, genitals and face. Deputies said the incident happened between March 31 and April 4. The child was staying with a family member at the time.

Morrow confirmed he had "spanked the boy with a belt."

Judge Clayton Davis issued a $100,000 warrant for Morrow's arrest on April 7. Morrow was located later that day and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
