A local farmers market is expanding for residents who live on the south end of Lake Charles.
Cash and Carry Farmers Market currently operates on the corner of Enterprise Boulevard and Broad Street, but starting Thursday, April 27, vendors will be setting up over in Prien Lake Park.
A parking lot will be used to host 20 vendors, where they will offer local beef and dairy products, produce and baked goods.
Jacob Manceaux with the market said they have been wanting to expand to service more of the city for quite some time.
"This gives us the opportunity to provide nutritious food to a larger portion of our community on a more regular basis," said Manceaux. "We look at ourselves as a small business incubator as well as providing nutrients - locally sourced food to people."
The market at Prien Lake Park will operate from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday.
Manceaux said the original location on Enterprise will continue to operate at its regular hours on Tuesdays.
